Macaroni - What an absolutely stunningly handsome guy! He is outgoing, friendly, and social and clearly one of the shelter employees' favorites. Everyone mentioned him to us on a recent visit -- they all loved him and hoped he would make it out of the packed shelter alive! They even told us that he had made his tail sore from wagging so hard against the kennel bars! You can only imagine how happy they all were when they knew we had picked him to join PPR! Macaroni so enjoyed his visit to the play yard, got on great with the other dogs, and soon found a ball so we had fun throwing it for him. He will need to join an active family who will give him the exercise he needs. He certainly has a lot of energy and an obedience class is a must for him. He does pull on the leash as he gets so excited to go for a walk. Now he is in a foster home, we have nothing but good reports from his foster mom. She says "He is going to make such a great pet. He is phenomenal with my kids. He is sweet and playful and he listens, he is house broken and scratches at the door if he needs to go out. So smart. We are falling in love with him. He better get adopted soon!!!! "

MerryBelle (NY) - ADOPTED!
MERRYBELLE is a wonderful dog! She is a young adult, about 1 year old, housebroken in her foster home, loves other dogs, loves cats, loves people, loves toys -SHE LOVES!!! We think she may have Dutch Shepherd in her from her coloring and shape, but it doesn't matter what is in there are she is just a GREAT DOG! Merry weighs about 45 lbs right now. Merry was invisible at the animal control, waiting month after month for her chance to shine. She is totally worth meeting -how can you resist!

BELLAGIO -Long, Low, and Ready to GO! This young man is just a sweetheart! He has the basset body and legs with a joyful enthusiasm for other dogs and humans of all sizes. He is still a youngster, around 6mo, weighing 28 lbs, so continued training is a MUST (as it is for all dogs, really), but his potential (except for height) is limitless! His foster mom says he is sweet and playful and loves to snuggle at night on the couch and watch tv! He really likes shoes. Doesn't destroy them, just carries them around! Get your application in quick -cuties like this boy usually have lots of admirers!

For several weeks he retreated to the back of his kennel so, of course, everyone just passed him by. One of our volunteers asked if we could help him. In the play yard, away from the noisy, scary shelter, he began to relax and we decided to offer him a
place in our rescue. Now happy in his foster home, he is a sweet and playful pup who is having a ball playing with the other dogs and the kids. His foster mom says he is a great boy and just loves him. Like any young pup, he needs plenty of chew toys so he doesn't get into things he shouldn't! He will need an owner who has time to bring a puppy into their home and teach him some manners. A basic obedience course will be a fun thing to do too!

makeup, though, as usual, we have no information on his parents.

Hushpuppy - NY - ADOPTED!
Sweet and gentle, she so enjoyed the attention we gave her and looked at us with eyes that said - I love you! Please take care of me!
It's obvious that Hushpuppy has had puppies recently, but unfortunately she was picked up by Animal Control without them. She is just precious and stole our hearts and we really would like to find her a new family that will spoil her and show her the good life from now on. She is very affectionate, and although she may be a little shy at first, give her a little time and she will be your best friend!

Trifle could be a movie star, he is that cute! One look and you will fall in love! Trifle is a typical little boy - he is an energetic, playful puppy who is very affectionate with people and plays well with other dogs. Toby is still a baby, so his leash manners and house/crate-training will probably need a little work but what fun that will be to take him to puppy kindergarten. Trifle was unlucky enough to have made two trips to Animal Control in his young life. He was previously adopted but then returned. The family said their large dog did not appreciate a new puppy in the house and they worried for his safety! Poor Trifle, you can imagine how confused he must have been and probably couldn't understand why the big dog did not like him!

She was very scared in the noisy shelter and one of our volunteers had to actually carry her out to the play yard. She stayed close to our volunteer and just wanted to be loved on. It was as if she knew we were there to help her.
She soon warmed up and became playful with a happy wagging tail. She got on nicely with the other dogs we introduced her too, though its obvious she is a girl who will bond with her person and want to be your best friend. .

Luckily PPR noticed her on a recent visit and took her outside for a walk and that's when we noticed how beautiful she is. Lovely soft shiny coat and pretty eyes that
sparkled in the sun. She walked nicely on the leash, was very well behaved,
playful but not hyper; certainly more on the low to medium energy level scale.
She was friendly around the other dogs we introduced her too. She is a tad on the
shy side and because of her tiny size, we would prefer she go to a family without young children. We think she would certainly enjoy a quieter home environment. She loves to be held and Cornucopia would be happy to live out her calling as a lap dog and will soak up all the love and attention she can get!

Friendly, playful and just a big baby who loved a good belly rub too. She was picked up by Animal Control running loose -- obviously she strayed too far from home and couldn't find her way back. Her owner didn't come to the shelter to look for her and so she became available for adoption. She is certainly on the skinny side and at 47lbs could stand to put on a pound or two. 
Sadly her original family didn't teach her too many manners and Marshmellow
could benefit from some basic obedience. An older pup, around a year, she is a little on the mouthy side, and has lots of puppy energy. She is super smart and true to her shepherd breed, will be a quick learner and will enjoy learning new things. She is a tad on the chunky side, probably more of a couch potato kind of girl content to be with her person and be a companion when you run errands, or go for a stroll.

Bobby Flay NY- TRANSFERRED to Animal Farm Foundation!
This magnificent, handsome boy is our Bobby Flay aka Taco (he is quite beefy). Bobby was adopted from PPR as a 5-month old puppy and lost his home recently when his family decided to move and couldn't take Bobby with them. Bobby is 3 years old now and weighs about 60 lbs. He is the sweetest dog you will ever meet and loves to play with dogs and children alike. Bobby is also OK with cats! Bobby would love a home that will love and spoil him. He deserves only the best! Everybody who meets Bobby tells us how wonderful he is and what a snuggler he is. He is strong, but has a gentle leader he will be adopted with.

PORTIA - She was next in line at the animal control when we met her. It was impossible to let her life end at only 5mo! Portia is a honey of a girl and is honey-colored to boot! Wishbone is outgoing, confident and makes friends easily, both human and canine! At 7 months old, she is just a puppy and has that lovely puppy innocence where the world is new and exciting. She is so smart, and so eager to learn and soon was sitting nicely to take treats from us. She is very playful and loved to run and play chase with the other dogs in the exercise yard. The shelter told us she was originally picked up as a stray but her previous owner didn't come and find her.
We are so happy that we were able to offer her a place with PPR because she is just wonderful and is going to bring a lot of fun to one lucky family. |
The first thing you will notice about Wishbone when you meet her (apart from how pretty she is with her sparkly mischevious eyes) is that she loves to give gentle hugs! She hugged our volunteer very tightly when we met her at Animal Control, literally asking for our help!
Such a sweet and affectionate girl, we just had to find room to take her.

BarbieQ (NY) - ADOPTED!
Our gorgeous BarbieQ is a real heartbreaker. She clearly had a rough life before she was picked up as stray and thrown in doggie jail She is only 3 years old, but it is obvious that she is mom to several litters of puppies. We are so glad this part of her life is over now and that we will be able to find her the wonderful home she deserves without ever worrying about puppies again.
Barbie is a great family dog - she loves people, and plays nicely with other dogs too. Barbie weighs only 25 lbs and has a nice, soft and thick coat that is very snuggable. Her coloring is also absolutely gorgeous. * Around 10m old * 12lbs Daisy: You don’t get much cuter than this! Daisy is a young girl looking for her forever home! She is everything you could want in a pup and more! She is so loving and affectionate! She is very well socialized and loves everyone she meets. Daisy would be a perfect family pet! She is great with other dogs, both big and small, and has a playful, fun-loving nature! We don't know how she ended up homeless at the pound, but Daisy has obviously been well treated and someone has taken the time to teach her to sit. Once she knew we had treats, she sat very nicely indeed.

LADY - (NY) - ADOPTED!
Lady is the sweetest girl, on the shy side in new situations, but that it to be
expected after all she has endured in the past few months. She walks nicely on the leash but doesn't seem to have had any other training. We suspect no one has spent much time with her showing her how to play with a toy or chase a ball! She has perfect house manners though, is so gentle, calm and doesn't jump. She is potty trained and enjoys curling up in a nice comfy bed (or the couch) and loves her crate too. Gets on great with other dogs and ignores the cats. In fact she gains confidence from being around another dog and so we would like to see her in a home with a doggy friend! * Around 4 years old * 27lbs LADY - If you are looking for that laid back, low maintenance kind of friend, Lady is the one for you. Lady's shelter photo caught our eye -- how can you resist those beautiful eyes pleading for help? We then learned her sad story. She was picked up by Animal Control after she was dumped with her 10 puppies. Her pups were all rescued (by another group) but unfortunately they did not have space for her. She tested positive for heartworms too, which is expensive to treat and further limited her chances of getting out of the shelter alive. Her life has obviously not been the best up to now, but that is all about to change now she is a PPR member!
She is a true companion dog that asks nothing more than a warm bed, good food and your love. Lady is so gentle and quiet, you just can not help but want to
love her! |

ZOOKS - This scruffy wire-haired guy is seriously too cute for words! "Gadzooks" is what we said when we saw him him and so Zooks he became! He seems to know how adorable he is as he's obviously used to lots of attention and expects everyone to stop and admire him (which they usually do)! His foster mom says he's "a Sweet Pea! - he gets on great with her dogs, friendly and loves everyone, housetrained and good with kids (older). He walks nicely on the leash and is a good size dog for just about any situation"

Puff (NY)- ADOPTED!
Little Puff is a sweet, curly headed Bichon Frise Mix, weighs about 15 lbs and is 7 years old. Little Puff was brought to a local Animal Control facility by his owner who got him off craigslist 6 months ago. Unfortunately, the newness of Puff's presence in the family wore off quickly and Puff wasn't wanted anymore. Luckily, we were at the shelter when Puff was dropped off and made sure his paws never touched the shelter grounds. Puff is very sweet, cuddly and seems to do well with other dogs too! This little guy is full of spunk and fun and the perfect lap and walking companion. Puff also had his teeth all cleaned and sports a sparkly white smile for you! Adopt him!

dog indeed! And sweet is what you get with Hunny! A very submissive girl that flips over for belly rubs at every opportunity! She is a happy and friendly pup that gets on great with other dogs. Lots of people will stop and ask you - where did you get that dog! He is like a Golden Retriever with tiger stripes! * 8 months * 25lbs Their owner went to jail and these beautiful sisters found themselves taken to doggie jail too. It didn't seem fair that they should be punished, and after a month stuck in a small cell, it looked like they might pay with their lives too. PPR decided that these two sweet girls should get a second chance and sprung them from the pound in the nick of time! This is what rescue is all about - helping those that really need a break. These girls are small - 25lbs. Their photos make them look much bigger. Come meet them and see for yourself! 
LINDOR ADOPTED!- She loves to play and run. Very agile girl and is a good watch dog - will alert you when someone is around.

please. She has a beautiful shiny coat that is so soft and in good condition. Orea is very playful and all about having some fun. She likes to have toys to chew and balls to chase after. She is very treat motivated and is learning her manners though it would be fun to take her to doggie kindergarten where we know she would be the star of the show. She is very friendly and loves everyone she meets but she needs to learn not to jump up to get attention. She gets along great with other dogs and is housetrained. Orea is looking to join a family that takes the commitment of dog ownership very seriously as poor Orea has been badly let down by her previous owners. Two times she was returned to the pound - once because her owners were moving, and the second time because her owners couldn't afford to get her vetting. General Tso (NY) - ADOPTED!
This little guy came to a GA Animal Control facility through a hoarding case. Poor G.T. had to live in a bunch of other dogs in a garage covered in fleas and dirt. Luckily, he is a little charmer and stole our hearts when we visited him at the shelter. General Tso is great with dogs, loves to play and does well with older children too. He is a wonderful lap dog and perfect for almost anyone who enjoys the breed. We estimate him to be about 3 years old and he weighs 12 lbs. nearest lap. On first meeting she appears to be on the shy side, but after a minute or two, she is happy and friendly and gives the most sweetest of kisses! She gets on great with other dogs. 
We feel like we have seen Gabrielle before - certainly the Georgia shelters
have an awful lot of little black scruffy dogs like her and her chances of getting adopted in the South are very slim. We were happy to to invite her to travel North. She is in need of some TLC; her pretty salt and pepper colored coat will look much better after a trip to the beauty parlor. It looks to be wiry but actually it is very soft! She is a sweet little girl who wants to be by your side - check out her cute little nub tail that tries to wag but takes along her back end with it! |

His foster mom says "Toulouse is beautiful. We call him Tee! He is very sweet, loves people and is very good with other dogs. He is doing well with the housetraining, not overly keen on being crated though. He is a great boy"

Eden certainly was a good candidate for rescue -- sweet, happy, friendly and in need of a second chance! She became a PPR dog and settled quickly into life with her foster family. Her coat is lovely and shiny now, she has gained weight and we are happy to report that her foster mom just loves her and says Eden loves every person she meets too! She does great with the dogs and cats in her foster home, loves to swim, play in the yard, especially fetch, and will jump to catch the ball mid air! She is the kind of dog that is ready to be active when you are, but equally happy to chill when its time to relax on the couch! She loves to snuggle and just adores her belly being rubbed. Eden is a great example of how wonderful a rescue dog can be and how grateful they are for a second chance. She has an absolutely wonderful temperament and we are so glad we were able to save her life.

KISSKA is a very sweet Beagle Mix. We are not sure what her other makeup is, but it made for a great little dog! Kisska is about 2 years old, weighs 20 lbs and is currently looking for a new forever home. She spent a long time in a rural GA shelter with not much hope of getting out. A month earlier she had been picked up by animal control after possibly being hit by a car - she was limping. She is all better now as we certainly saw no evidence of it as she ran like the wind, so happy to be out of her kennel!

This little guy is our dear Dash. Dash is a true mystery mix, and is one of the most fun and sweet dogs you will ever meet (we say that a lot about our dogs, but it IS true!!!). Dash was a shelter worker favorite, the staff loved him so much they made sure to let everyone know that Dash had to be saved.

She is not so keen on being crated, so her foster family have let her sleep with them on the bed at night, but she is crated for short periods when they leave to run errands. * Chihuahua X female * Around 2 years old * 11lbs Pattina came into Animal Control suffering with a bad cold, full of fleas and pregnant. Her owner gave her up because they had too many animals already (which is not surprising if they are not neutering them). After a month spent at the shelter, this poor girl was in desperate need of rescue as her time was up. Luckily for Patti, we were able to offer her a place with PPR. Her foster mom tells us that Patti is very affectionate, loves to give kisses and sit on your lap. She is not particularly interested in playing with toys, but does love a nice walk (walks nicely on leash) or to explore in the yard.

His foster family just love him, say he's friendly, smart and the easiest foster dog they have ever had. He doesn't jump up and is respectful with their other dogs. This is what his foster mom tells us about him. "Botwin is totally housetrained, loves his treats, toys, housemates and us. He is very loyal, submissive and sweet. He just melts to the floor when you talk to him and lies on his back so you can give him a belly rub! He respects my 18 yr old terrier and never tries to take her food or treats. He's i love with my fat lab, which has lost about 7lbs since I've had him. They love to run and play. When we walk, he is always looking at the kids, so I hope he goes to a family with kids and dogs to play with. Kips is doing great in his foster home and his mom tells us that not only is
Kips a very friendly boy and loves to be petted, he also thinks he is a lap dog and loves to snuggle and have his ears rubbed. He likes to sleep in bed with his foster mom and dad and his doggie siblings. 
He gets on great with other dogs as he is on the submissive side, and is fine with the cats too. His mom says he is 'sweet, sweet, SWEET and will adore his new owner'. Zophie is just a young girl, about a year old, and so would love to join a family that will give her lots of playtime as she really does love to play with her toys! Tennis balls, squeaky toys, she loves them all and will bring them back to you for you to throw for her time and time again. As you can see she loves to swim too! * Around 2 years old * 25lbs 'Sweet, quiet and loves to be petted' that's what her foster mom says when we asked her to describe Opal! 'She knows how to sit and stay and walks well on a leash. She loves her doggy bed and in the morning her tail wags like crazy to see you and she rolls over for tummy rubs'! Yes Opal was used to being part of a family before they dropped her off at the shelter with her 10 puppies. Not only did they not spay her, and let her contribute to the terrible pet over population in GA, but they didn't keep her on heartworm prevention either. PPR has treated her for heartworms, updated her vetting and has promised to find her a new family that will love and treasure her as this darling girl so deserves! She is on the small side of medium, weighing 20/25lbs so a great size for most situations. She does present as a tad shy, which is understandable after a months stay in the shelter with her puppies, but she soon warms up and that tail starts wagging, and wagging as she cautiously approaches you for some loving. She is an older puppy that seems to have had some training as she certainly sat very nicely when she knew we had treats and took them very gently. She's a little jumpy in her excitement to meet you - she certainly wants to be close to her people. She has a gorgeous, soft coat, just right for cuddling and she certainly would like you to take advantage of that as snuggling is one of her favorite things to do. Gabby loves to play with her foster sister - she would make a good playmate if you have a dog that likes to play too! ChaCha. What a beautiful girl! She came into the shelter with her puppies and when they all got adopted, ChaCha became urgent. Luckily PPR was able to rescue her and give her a second chance. Our vet thinks she is about 3 years old but she certainly acts much younger and loves to play and chew on bones. Her foster mom says "She is super friendly, on the submissive side, loves to give sloppy kisses and follow you everywhere you go. She loves to play and especially with water. Knows how to sit and is very smart and loving." ChaCha loves to play with the dog in her foster home, is housetrained and well mannered.
Unfortunately ChaCha's former owner didnt keep her on heartworm prevention. PPR treated her heartworms and she is now ready to go to her new home. JITTERBUG is such a sweet, playful, and loving puppy.She loves to be held and cuddled, and you’ll love holding and cuddling with her because she is so very soft and snuggly. She sneaks in sweet little puppy kisses to let you know how much she loves you! She’s learning to walk on a leash and actually walks very nicely for a puppy - She's 'almost' potty trained too! She's a very smart girl!
'Bug' came into the shelter with her litter mates and watched as one by one they all got adopted. 4 weeks at Animal Control began to take its toll on her and she began to despair that her turn would ever come. With so many puppies to choose from, this mostly black pup was getting totally overlooked. Luckily PPR learned of her plight and was able to rescue her.

and we saw them on several visits to the shelter literally growing up before
our eyes. We finally had room to bring them into the rescue. They are now

up and are expert at giving sweet puppy kisses.
At around 5 months old, they will need lots of guidance as they learn to

EMMIE LOU (NY) - ADOPTED!
FROM HER FOSTER MOM: Emmie Lou is a very "soft" puppy - not bullheaded, bossy, or dominent at all. She is very responsive to correction from both people and dogs. However, she is not timid or fearful, and she actually seems to be pretty well socialized.Now that she's feeling better, EL has typical puppy energy, but she calms down in a reasonable amount of time. She is extremely affectionate and will shower you with kisses for as long as you'll sit still! She is not mouthy and not a particularly big chewer (for a puppy - I still wouldn't leave her unsupervised!) If they are up for the challenge of raising a puppy, I think EL would be a good dog for beginners.

Pace is one adorable and unique pup. He is so cute and those ears–you have to love them! They can't quite decide whether to stand up or flop down! He is very smart and treat motivated and is doing well with his potty and leash training in his foster home. He’s so much fun, a happy go lucky guy and it makes you feel good just being with him. He is good with other dogs, he approaches them carefully but once he knows it's okay he gets playful. He is curious about cats, likes to kiss them, but does not chase them at all. He loves his toys, and being a puppy its important he has plenty of chew toys or else he will find something else to chew on. His foster mom says he's not a crazy high energy puppy, gets excited over new stuff but does calm right down. He is friendly and affectionate and enjoys a good snuggle session. He is certainly unique looking with his dark colored face and head, mostly white body, and huge ears which we are assuming he will grow into - he certainly is at that lanky teenage age and it will be interesting to watch him grow up. He is about 6 months old now and weighs 25 lbs so he could be a nice medium size dog, but who knows. We see lab in his make up and possibly shepherd too. DARRELL: Just absolutely stunning. Everyone that meets him just falls in love and remarks what a gorgeous boy he is! Little Lula is a 5 year old Maltese Mix who weighs only 6 lbs right now. She needs to add more weight that is for sure. Lula was dumped at a shelter by her previous owners that left the country. Little Lula was scared to death between all those barking doggies at the shelter trying to get our attention. She also needed a haircut badly which she got a few days later. Lula is very timid, but oh so sweet. She wants nothing more than to curl up right next to you and snooze. She would make a wonderful lap dog. CHARLESTON certainly has the looks - what a pretty girl she is with her two tone cream colored coat! Wasn't always so, as she came into the shelter looking a little ragged around the edges and missing the fur on her back legs. Her foster mom calls her Charlie and has certainly taken great care of her. Now she is looking very beautiful and is ready to find her new family. Charleston is a very friendly dog and loves to be with her person - snuggle sessions on the couch are her favorite. TIZZEE - Such a happy girl with a tail that is in constant motion! She just loves everyone and everything and brings a smile to your face when you look at her. Even shut up in doggie jail, she stayed upbeat and positive and when we walked by her kennel, she greeted us as if we were her family and she was so pleased to see us! We know she is going to bring a lot of happiness to the lucky person that gets to invite Tizz to join their family! Really she is just a joy and her enthusiasm for life is just contagious. Her foster mom says she is as sweet as can be! When she's happy which is nearly all the time, her whole body wags with her tail. She gets on great with the other dogs in her foster home, does show curiousity in the cat though so would do better with a dog savvy cat! Like most dogs, if the cat runs, the dog will follow. She is friendly and confident and will make a great dog for just about any situation. We see dachshund in Tizzee's mix; she is about 18m old, has a very pretty shiny red coat and weighs about 13lbs.

Even shut up in doggie jail, she stayed upbeat and positive and when we walked by her kennel, she greeted us as if we were her family and she was so pleased to see us! We know she is going to bring a lot of happiness to the lucky person that gets to invite Tizz to join their family! Really she is just a joy and her enthusiasm for life is just contagious. Her foster mom says she is as sweet as can be! When she's happy which is nearly all the time, her whole body wags with her tail. She gets on great with the other dogs in her foster home, does show curiousity in the cat though so would do better with a dog savvy cat! Like most dogs, if the cat runs, the dog will follow. She is friendly and confident and will make a great dog for just about any situation. We see dachshund in Tizzee's mix; she is about 18m old, has a very pretty shiny red coat and weighs about 13lbs.

Bella Bounce, this girl is small and unique! Her coat is wiry and she has these huge, funny ears. She never just walks, she bounces! Her foster mom says she is good with kids, men, women, cats, other dogs, strangers....most everyone! She is housetrained, loves her crate and sleeps through the night. Her foster family just love her and report ..... "She is an awesome retriever, plays with other dogs, her people or by herself. She has loads of energy, but knows how to relax and does that great. She will be a GREAT agility, flyball or frisbee dog- she is SO athletic and is SMART!! She has a terrier brain, connects with her "person" and wants to push the limits, but wants to work and please. She is a doll and loads of fun! If she were going to stay with us I would train her to be a Canine good citizen and /or therapy dog. She loves to come to work with me and everyone loves her. She hardly ever barks, other than when she hears a strange noise or someone coming to the house. She walks well on the leash, in fact she loves to walk and easily covers the 2 1/2 mile hike we take on weekends. Rylee has recovered completely and is now ready to find her new family! She would do best in a house with a doggie playmate as she has obviously been
used to being around other dogs and takes comfort in that. She has blossomed in her foster home and has gained much confidence from being exposed to new situations. She has learned to walk on a leash, sits nicely for treats and takes them gently, is housetrained and well behaved, ignores the cats and just loves to be petted. MONTY is a real charmer and just loves attention! Curled up on your lap, receiving lots of belly rubs is his idea of a good time! His foster mom reports that he welcomes everyone to her home and wants to meet everyone he sees! She said he gets on great with the other small/medium dogs she has and is fine with the cats too. He loves to play with toys and will walk around with his favorite toy in his mouth - just adorable! He is good on a leash, likes his crate and gives great little sweet kisses! Monty is a tiny guy and because of his size we think he would be better in a family with no young kids. When you are that small, the world can be a scary place! He would be a perfect fit for someone that is looking for a lap dog and has time to give him lots of love and attention and spoil him as he so clearly expects. Monty does have an overbite, his under jaw is clearly shorter, but it doesn't seem to affect him at all - his foster mom reports he's a very good eater! Monty is very handsome and has a very soft long haired coat that will need regular brushing to keep it tangle free and in good condition. We think he has Chi in his make up.

Gooseberry (NY) - ADOPTED!
GOOSEBERRY - but you can call her whatever name you choose if you adopt this sweetheart! She doesn't mind what you call her as long as you love her! You see she has already had three names in her young life and already had two owners through no fault of her own! As 'Molly' she was turned into the pound when her owner was evicted from his home. PPR rescued her just hours before her time was up and she was lucky enough to find a new owner when she arrived in New York and settled in as 'Gidget'. Now Gidget's mom is no longer able to care for her due to an unforeseen medical problem, and so we have brought her back into the rescue and assured her mom we will find a new family for her. Her foster mom reports that "Gooseberry is very sweet and of course, very pretty. She has a very nice, friendly disposition and gets on with the other dogs in the home. She is housetrained and has good social skills and sits nicely for treats. She does pull a bit on the leash and being just a young dog, has quite a lot of energy." Gooseberry would make a great addition for an active family and like most of our rescue dogs, would benefit from a quick training class. ZOE - another word for ADORABLE. This little cutie found herself in a big metro Atlanta Animal Control along with 100's of other dogs. Luckily her photo caught our eye and we were able to get her out of there and into a foster home. Her foster mom just loves her and tell us that she is a amazingly calm for a puppy! She is friendly and gets on great with other dogs - loves to play but is not crazy high energy. She loves to cuddle and is friendly to people. She is very smart, is very treat motivated and learned 'sit' and 'down' in no time! She still needs some help with leash walking and does get a little nervous when out in new places, so needs an owner that will continue exposing her to new situations. ZOE - another word for ADORABLE. This little cutie found herself in a big metro Atlanta Animal Control along with 100's of other dogs. When we decided to rescue Relish and Margarita the shelter had a mix-up and our foster decided that all four puppies needed to leave the crowded shelter. SHANE (NY) ADOPTED!SHANE is a super cute, scruffy young man! Even though he is just adorable, he was just one of many dogs looking for a home in a very overcrowded shelter and was on the list to be PTS. One look at that happy boy, and we couldn't let that happen. He is a puppy, only about 6 months old and it is so sad to think that
he might never have had a chance to grow up. He is friendly and as sweet as they come - just a great young pup. He loved playing with the dogs we introduced him to and enjoyed the sunshine and rolling around in the grass when we took him out of his kennel at Animal Control and into the play yard. Shane doesn't seem to have had any training, so his new owner will need to commit to a puppy kindergarten class so he learns some basic manners. Pineapple is just a darling girl! One of those dogs that will do well in just about any situation. She knows how to chill when its time to relax and is happy to curl up at your feet, (or even better next to you on the couch) - and when its playtime or time to go for a walk enjoys that too! Mr Handsome, oh yes you are and you know it! Could have been named Mr Happy too as a happier fellow you will never meet. He is just a wonderful young man, barely out of puppyhood. He came into the shelter as a stray, in good condition, with stitches still in place for a recent neuter. His previous owner could not be contacted, and even calling around local vets offices did not locate anyone that was missing a recently neutered pet. |

AMBER - just a gem who needs a little polish and her true brilliance will come shining through! This sweetheart was picked up by animal control as a stray and it certainly looked like she's not had the best of care for a while. Meet little Blaze! She is a 16 week old Lab X girl and weighs 20 lbs (right now). Blaze was dropped off at a very crowded, rural Animal Control shelter and spent two months patiently waiting in a small metal cage for someone to choose her. Unfortunately, black dogs are oftentimes overlooked and Blaze is no exception, so PPR scooped her up and now she is ready for her forever home! They are true mystery mixes, about 12 weeks old and will probably end up in the medium size range. TaterChip is a 2 year old, 30 lbs Shepherd/Husky Mix girl and super sweet. Considering her heritage (although it is just our best guess) she is fairly mellow and very submissive. TaterChip wants to please her people and will be a great companion once she has received the basic training every dog really needs. TaterChip is one of the dogs that ended up walking the streets of rural GA, then she was picked up by Animal Control and brought to the local Animal Control shelter where nobody came looking for her. Shylar is a very beautiful German Shepherd x with a very beautiful personality to match! She was picked up by Animal Control as a stray so we don't have any information on her background, but she has obviously been someone's pet, as she is well behaved, comes when you call her, knows 'sit' and 'stay' and walks nicely on the leash. Unfortunately her family did not keep her on heartworm prevention and Shylar tested positive. She stayed with her wonderful GA foster parents who cared for her through her treatment. Hickory jumped on the PPR train literally at the last minute. She was so scared to be at the shelter all by her small self and people just passed her by like she did not exist. After a horrific two month shelter stay she was finally bailed out and became a proud PPR girl. Hickory is about 3 years old, weighs 12 lbs and is a Chihuahua Mix. She is very sweet, but a little unsure of all the commotion going on around her. Despite all she has been through she likes to be held and petted. Gorgeous Charcoal is a 5 month old Lab Mix girl (25 lbs right now) that found herself in the same situation as our Blaze. She was dropped off at the shelter and as so many black doggies was overlooked on a daily basis. This made her stay at the scary shelter very long. Thank goodness, we know of the plight of black doggies and always keep an eye out for them. Charcoal is a sweetheart and would love a home of her own. OSITO (ADOPTED!) AND TUX (NY)- ADOPTED!
Osito and Tux are just the most adorable youngsters you could ever hope to meet! They are two pups who were lucky enough not to have experienced life at Animal Control. Another Georgia rescue saved mom from the shelter just before she gave birth and so the puppies were all born safely in a wonderful foster home. Osito and Tux are two puppies out of a litter of 10. Their mom is a German Shepherd mix but as you can see, they clearly dont favor her in looks and, of course, we have no information on Dad!
To find new families for 10 pups was going to be hard for the rescue to do, so we offered to help and Osito and Tux are our newest PPR members! They were born on March 9th and at 11 weeks weigh approximately 20 lbs. They are going to be big guys and it is important that their new owners realise that responsibility of owning a large dog and commit to proper puppy training so they grow up to be well behaved adults. They have enjoyed being in a home environment since birth, are trusting, sweet, affectionate and confident boys. |

Smartie - NY - ADOPTEDSmartie: It's just impossible not to fall in love with our Smartie! Such a pretty little Sheltie x girl! She is cute, seems to know it and she loves getting attention! She presents a tad on shy side, but just for a minute or two and then she is a friendly girl and just loves to play with other dogs, both big and small. Relish and Margarita really joined PPR because of a picture that we randomly took at an Animal Control facility. We kept looking at the picture and the little pups were just tugging on our heartstrings. So they had to join PPR. Relish is super sweet. She did very well in her foster home playing with the other dogs, too! These puppies are Mystery Mixes, so we are not sure what they are made of. We just know they are very cute! Puppies are wonderful and fun, but please keep in mind that they require lots of time and training to become great K9 citizens. Apply if you are ready for a full time commitment! Brizket (NY) - ADOPTED!
This cute, little guy is our Brizket. You can't see it anymore, but Brizket used to have curly hair. He needed a grooming session and looks so handsome now! We think that Brizket might be a Cockapoo or Schnoodle (some sort of poodle mixed with something else). Brizket is 2 years old and weighs about 20 lbs. Kye - NY - ADOPTEDKye - What a beautiful girl! Happy, sweet and very playful, she's a great family dog. Unfortunately her previous owner didn't appreciate this adorable girl and turned her into the shelter and said they didn't have time for her. Kye is young, around a year and so has puppy energy and would do great with a family that can take her on walks and spend time playing with her. She absolutely loves to play with tennis balls, chew on bones and squeaky toys! She follows commands like sit and lie down, walks well on a leash and is crate trained. She is wonderful around kids and other dogs and is friendly, confident and outgoing!
Kye has a beautiful, soft black and white coat and a very cute face. Her little nub tail never stops wagging, in fact it takes her whole body along with it -- so funny! We love Kye and we are happy that she could join PPR and find a family that will love her and spoil her as she so deserves. They will be rewarded with a loving and faithful companion. |

MacIntosh - NY - ADOPTED
Macintosh came into Animal Control as part of a cruelty case. As you can see from his shelter photo, he was not in the best of shape. It was pretty obvious that rescue was his only hope to be saved. If ever a dog needed PPR's help, it was sweet Mac! After a stay at the vets office to assess his needs, we found him a wonderful foster home who has loved and cared for him while he recovered from a tumor removal (results benign - thank goodness), heartworm treatment and upper respiratory and urinary infections. Yes this guy was a mess but now he is good as new and steals the hearts of everyone that meets him. He is ready to find his new family!

He just loves to be with his person so someone that is home a lot would be great - he loves to snuggle on your lap and give kisses and sleep on the bed at night. He has great manners and gets on well with both the dog and cat in his GA foster home. He also loves to ride in the car and is a sociable little guy! We think MacIntosh is about 7 or 8 years old and has some poodle and schnauzer in his makeup, but really who knows! He weighs around 15lbs. We do know he is an adorable little guy that is going to make his new family very happy!

Her foster mom says she is very affectionate, loves belly rubs, and to

ARA - A sweet young lady who was turned into Animal Control with her 8 puppies by an owner who said she didn't have time for her! Luckily for Ara, PPR and another rescue group were visiting and between us we were able to rescue her and all her pups! Ara's pups were old enough to leave her - in fact she looked like she really had had enough of being a momma and was happy to come out of her kennel and spend some time with our volunteers!

Avery - Adopted!Avery is a sweet, good-natured dog that loves to play. If she's timid when you first meet her (a possibility when she goes to a new home) don't worry she warms up pretty quickly. She loves other dogs and would be a great doggie playmate, but she's also very people oriented too and she loves to give kisses! Her foster mom says: "She loves to play with toys and she will play fetch for a long time even if she's not quite learned how to give her toy back. Avery loves to be in your lap and will jump up anywhere to get some loving. She usually has a smile on her face and is ready and willing to learn some dog manners. She is completely house broken, already knows how to sit and she does well on a leash, until she spies a rabbit or squirrel! However Avery loves to chew so you might want to get a good bone or deer antler for her as she easily chews through other toys (and shoes/socks if given the opportunity!)" Avery is a yellow lab X, is about 18m and weighs around 30lbs, just a great medium size dog. She has been vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, heartworm tested negative and spayed. Ara's pups (NY) ADOPTED!These adorable young puppies are 'Ara's' pups! Ara is a sweet beagle mix girl, around 25lbs. She was rescued from the shelter along with her puppies. (We have no info on Dad, of course).
Darling EFFIE is the last of the litter and is still looking for her new home - she is about 16 weeks old now and weighs 8lbs. She has been enjoying life in her foster home but really would like her new family to find her soon. She is adorable as you can see, look at that little white tip on her tail! She is fostered with other dogs and cats and is well socialized, happy and friendly. She gets on great with kids and loves to play and then play some more! Puppies are fun, and oh so cute, no doubt about that. BUT puppies are a lot of work and require time and patience to make sure they grow up to be well behaved doggie citizens. Please think about your decision to adopt a puppy very carefully to make sure you can give them a lifetime commitment. Puppies need constant supervision, training, socialization and plenty of play and exercise time. A puppy obedience class is a must. Meet Brews, our sweet, young (6 months) Bassett Lab Mix boy. Brews has a wonderful, friendly temperament and is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He is truly "buddy" material. Like so many dogs Brews found himself homeless in rural GA before he was invited to join the PPR crew. Brews would be a great family dog and would do very well with other dogs, too. He is still a young guy and needs a family that is committed to teach him to be the perfect dog he wants to be! Brews is definitely worth the investment and ready for a loving forever home! CARIBOU- This darling is so terribly cute you should look away before you get giddy! She was picked up by Animal Control as a stray and the Officer noted that she was limping! We took her to our vet for xrays and BROKEN FEMUR!! It's an old injury, already healing and she just needs to be kept from jumping or rough playing for another few weeks while it mends. Was she hit by a car? Was she kicked? We will never know. Poor baby, she must have been in pain but you would never have known. |
Tassimo (NY) ADOPTED!
Tassimo - Where to start to describe this fabulous guy! Loving, smart, friendly, playful, and good with other dogs. He is very social and loves to be with his people and his doggie friends. Has never met a stranger and everyone just falls under his spell within seconds of meeting him. He is a charmer that's for sure and loves to snuggle with you. When we saw him at Animal Control, he was in bad shape, totally matted and had some skin issues going on. Obviously his life had not been so good as he was very skinny and needed some dental work too. Off to our vet, was groomed and completely vetted, then he went to a Ga foster home for a few weeks for some rest and relaxation! Now he is ready to join his forever family and start his new life. We know it will be all good from now on as his new parents will spoil him like he so deserves.

MUNCHKIN - What a great little dog he is, and what a lucky boy too! We noticed him on a recent visit to Animal Control as he was clearly not feeling well and was very sick. We took him straight to our vet's office, where he received fluids and antibiotics and soon was on the mend. Thank goodness we got him out in time! Munchkin just loves people and gives you tons of kisses to show you just how much! He gets on great with other dogs in his foster home and leaves the cats alone too! He is a happy little fella, confident without being dominant, very inquisitive and playful. He seems to be potty trained and enjoys a nap in his crate - his foster mom says 'he is just an absolute sweetheart'! You can see from his updated photos that he is as good as new now!

Darling Queenie is a 18 month old, 12 lbs Brussels Griffon Mix. She is super cute and yes, she also found herself homeless in an urban Animal Control shelter. Cafe (NY)- ADOPTED!Cafe is just one of the sweetest dogs we have met! And one of the prettiest! With her beautiful amber colored eyes, and pretty, soft yellow coat, she is just stunning. She has crazy ears that go up and down as you talk to her, with one that just can't decide what it wants to do - it's so funny to watch!
Cafe just loves people, especially kids, and just loves nothing more than receiving attention, getting a good belly rub and being next to you. She also likes to be a lap dog and snuggle up to you. Cafe is about 18m old and loves to run and play ball - she is well mannered, is just about potty trained and has learnt a few commands in her foster home, such as sit. She walks quite nicely on the leash and at 33lbs is a perfect medium size dog.

The officers said your mom had a new baby and didn't 'have time for you' anymore. They must have cared enough to bring you to Georgia with them and they gave you a pretty name - Lily. We loved you the minute we saw you and knew you deserved a second chance. Your GA foster mom fell in love with you too as you shyly crept up to her and covered her in kisses! She has nothing but wonderful things to say about you - "Daisy is the perfect dog! She is so sweet, very loving and gets along great with my dogs. She loves to be by your side and will hang out in my office during the day. She'll nudge her head into your hand to get you to pet her—it's so cute. She's very relaxed, but loves to play too. She loves to chase a ball or rope in the back yard and will bring it back to you. On walks, she'll stay glued to your side, makes great eye contact and already knows how to sit and is potty trained! When she comes back into the house, she goes straight to her crate! I seriously wish I could keep her, but I know that would mean we couldn't foster anymore." KHOL - NY - ADOPTED!Khol is the funniest dog! With her huge ears she looks like she could be from another planet! She is about 4 months old, so maybe she will grow into her ears soon! Talk about a fun loving pup! Khol loves to play and chase her toys. She is friendly, happy, very confident, adorable and of course, cute-cute-cute. She is at that great puppy stage where the whole world is new and ready to be explored!
Khol is 'all puppy' and by that we mean has all the puppy behaviors - chewing, jumping and mouthing - but she’s also at the perfect age to start training. DOMINICA -NY - ADOPTED!

Dominica is such a charmer! She immediately caught our eye when we were visiting the animal control. With a little twinkle in her eye, she certainly looks like she's ready for some fun and wasn't too impressed with being stuck in a small cage. She jumped into our volunteer's arms when we opened her cage door, so that sealed the deal, we couldn't put her back! She was very happy to take a walk out to the play yard with us, greeting everyone she met with a waggy tail as much as to say --"look at me, im outta here"! She has a huge personality for such a little girl and is a delight to be around. Check out the pretty mark on her back - a pawprint, a crown maybe? Dominica is a Chi x about a year old and weighs just 8lbs. She definitely needs some TLC; she is very skinny and her nails were very long.
