Dogs available for Adoption

All of our available dogs are fostered in the Hudson Valley area of New York by wonderful families who open up their homes to offer the dogs a safe place to stay while they wait for their new families to find them. Once your application to adopt is approved, we will put you in touch with the foster to arrange a meeting at a mutually convenient time, with any pup that you are interested in.

We give you as much information on the dogs as we can, but the foster families actually have these dogs in a home environment and know them best. They will be happy to help you as you make your decision to find the best match for your family. Breed identifications are our best guess and given as a guide only. As we always say, 'your guess is as good as ours'!

Lorraine (NY) Winter

Lorraine is a 18-month old Schnoodle girl, though she has stumpy Bichon legs, if you ask me.
She is a very loyal and loving little girl who was surrendered to us by her previous owners who felt she was not a good match for their family situation. We are requiring that she will attend doggy-manners classes (as should EVERY dog) with her new owner as well-- it is very important that even little bitties like Lorraine are canine good citizens and fun to be around! We prefer for her to go to a home with no small children. Lorraine is a dog that would do well in a quiet home, she is very loyal and loving with her family, but takes a while to warm up to strangers. She would do best in a dog experienced home that can work with her.
She is wonderful with cats and though she can be a little bossy with other dogs her size (about 15lbs.), she enjoys having them around too. Lorraine loves to play with toys, chew nylabones and enjoys sleeping on her back, next to her foster mom on the recliner.
Lorraine has been spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, HW tested and will be microchipped, prior to adoption. We are asking for an adoption donation of $400 to help with the cost of care of our animals.

ROADY (NY) Winter

Roady is definitely best buddy material. He comes in a tiny, short legged package (15 lbs) and loves to have fun! We found Roady in a rural Animal Control facility where he was facing euthanasia. Thank goodness, he captured the hearts of the staff and was spared the grim fate of being put to sleep. Roady is estimated to be about 1 year old and loves to play, snuggle and get a good belly rub. He is a Corgi X with some of the signature Corgi features! If you like the breed, you will LOVE Roady. We just know that he will make a great and fun companion for one lucky family. Roady has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, HW tested and microchipped. We are asking for an adoption donation of $400 to help with the cost of care of our animals.

MOBLEY (NY) Winter

Mobley came into the shelter just a bag of bones; obviously his previous life wasnt that great. Now he is at a healthy weight of around 25lbs and really enjoys being spoiled in his foster home.
He gets on great with other dogs and chasing squirrels is a favorite pastime too! He probably will chase cats that are not dog savvy and like to run! His foster mom says he is completely housetrained and is a very smart and loving dog. Mobley is about 2 years old and we are listing him as a Min Pin X. He has the most adorable 'radar' ears!

MOBLEY - What a fun dog he is! Mr Personality! He is quite the character and really loving & affectionate - loves nothing more that to lean against you or sit on your lap. He loves to play, toss his toys and go on walks.
He is a great watch dog- alerts you when someone is at the front door with his big dog bark! (Otherwise he is a quiet dog!).

Momma (NY)

Momma has her name for a reason: She is the UBER-Mom! Momma was originally found wandering the streets of Atlanta and was picked up by Animal Control. As it turned out Momma's previous owner did not care about doggie birth control very much and Momma had a litter of pups. Once they were old enough, all of them found forever homes, but Momma had to stay behind. Then the shelter was faced with another litter of puppies coming in with no mom to nurse them. So Momma decided to raise another set of pups and you might guess it: Once they were old enough they were adopted and Momma....stayed behind. Luckily, the shelter staff loved her and made Momma's plight known. She finally became a PPR member and made the trip to NY. She lives in a foster home and is allowed to be just a dog. Momma is a "mixed breed" dog (yes, we are serious we don't really know how else to describe her), weighs about 40 lbs and is 3-4 years old. She gets along with cats and dogs that are more on the submissive side. She is very sweet and loving and can't wait to find a home of her own. Please consider this sweetie for adoption! Momma has been spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, HW tested and microchipped. We are asking for an adoption donation of $400 to help with the cost of care of our animals.

Carlton - NY

CARLTON - This handsome boy is Carlton! He has a very sweet and gentle temperament and so wants to please. He gets along great with other dogs, cats and kids - just a good all around family dog. He is very smart and knows sit, stay and come (most of the time!). He has a true hound dog bark but rarely uses it. He loves to play and tennis balls are his favorite! He walks pretty well on the leash and of course, as a hound dog, you can find him with nose to the ground, enjoying all the wonderful scents! He is maybe just under a year old and does need exercise/play sessions like any young dog. He also likes to snuggle on the couch and is very affectionate! He has a beautiful black and tan soft coat and weighs around 40lbs.
We love Carlton and we know you will too! He has been vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and neutered. We are asking for an adoption donation of $400 to help with the costs associated with caring for our animals.

Tubbs (NY)

TUBBS- Just a roly-poly, smiley, tail wagging, kissy ball of a pup! No idea where to start to describe this happy girl, other than to say you really just have to come and meet her in person - she will captivate you with her puppy behaviors and have you smiling and laughing in no time! Imagine waking up to this little bundle of joy everyday - what fun! Tubbs is about 6 months old and weighs 25lbs. Obviously she has some more growing to do, but we hope its up and not out, as our Tubbs has obviously been enjoying the food at the shelter and of course not taking any exercise! Tubbs is very friendly and is at that lovely puppy stage where she loves everyone and everything and the world is new and exciting. She will be a delight to take to puppy kindergarten as we know she will be a star pupil as she is very eager to please her person! Tubbs is a real Georgia 'mystery mix' just a real hotchpotch of breeds and everyone has their own ideas of what could have gone into her makeup! For now we are going with shepherd/beagle.

Rooney (NY)

Rooney is a gorgeous boy. There is no doubt about that. Despite his good looks, he found himself homeless and overlooked at a small GA Animal Control shelter like so many other medium sized black dogs. Rooney is not overlooked anymore and wants to be member of a active family that is looking for a great companion and buddy. Rooney is a true charmer and enjoys attention and human touch. Rooney is a Lab Mix, weighs 45 lbs and is about 4 years old. He gets along with other dogs as well. Rooney has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, HW tested and microchipped. We are asking for an adoption donation of $400 to help with the cost of care of our animals.

Mimi (NY)

Mimi is a wonderful, little Min Pin x girl. Mimi has perfected the art of snuggling and she will fit her warm (chubby) body into whatever position you are sitting or lying in and stay there until you get up! A real lap dog in the true sense of the word and she is looking for a owner that will share her passion! She follows her human around until they sit back down! She is a very loyal little girl and especially bonds with the man of the house. True to her breed, she can be wary of strangers and gives a warning growl but stops when corrected. She is being fostered in a home with 4 other dogs and loves to play with them - in fact its good for her to have a playmate to keep her in line; she leaves the cats alone. She is housetrained and well mannered.
Mimi weighs in around a chubby 15 lbs and we think she is about 18m old. Because of her size, we would prefer a home with no small children.
She has been spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, HW tested and microchipped. We are asking for an adoption donation of $400 to help with the cost of care of our animals.

Astro - (NY)

Astro is a happy and friendly, tail wagging young hound dog pup and is just as cute as cute can be! His gorgeous black and tan coat is just so beautiful and soft and he certainly likes to snuggle and be loved on. Astro is an adolescent pup (about a year old) easier than a puppy, but still very impressionable and ready to learn everything you’ll teach him! Astro found himself turned into a rural animal control by his owner who was unable to keep him. He soon became a shelter favorite with his good looks and happy go lucky personality. He had a ball sharing a kennel with his friends Cakes and BaileyBoo and had no idea of the danger he was really in! He obviously gets on great with other dogs and is a friendly and well socialized young man. Do you have another dog that needs a playmate? Well please consider Astro. He is very curious little guy and being a Beagle mix, loves to sniff every inch of the ground.
Astro is around a year old and weighs 28lbs, he is on the smaller side of medium.
Astro has been microchipped, dewormed, vaccinated, heartworm tested and neutered. We are asking for an adoption donation of $400 to help with the costs associated with caring for our animals

Yolo (NY)

YOLO: What a SWEETHEART! This fella will steal, melt and win your heart the SECOND you meet him! He is simply adorable with just a lot of happy energy! Unfortunately for Yolo, his owner fell on hard times and was unable to afford to keep him and he was turned into animal control. He spent Christmas and New Years in the shelter and never gave up hope that his turn would come. He quickly became a favorite of the shelter employees and we can totally see why. He gets on fine with other dogs, is more on the submissive side, and will make a great family dog. He loves to play and run and is super smart and loves to learn new things. Just a great boy who will bring a smile to your face. Yolo is about a year old, and weighs in at 37lbs. We see Bassett and lab in his background.

BaileyBoo (NY)

BaileyBoo is such a handsome and sweet guy! He adores people and has an upbeat, happy outlook on life. He is very affectionate and just loves a snuggle session! BaileyBoo is very easy going and makes friends with everyone - he especially loves playing with his doggie friends! He was found running loose and was picked up by Animal Control. But BaileyBoo didn't stress over his visit to the shelter, in fact he was such a good boy, that he got to share an outdoor kennel with his buddies Cakes and Astro. A space reserved for the dogs that the shelter wants to give extra time to and are well behaved! Why his owners didn't come looking for him, we just don't know - he is a true gem and we can't say enough good things about him. He will be a great addition to just about any family situation. If you are looking for a companion for your dog, BaileyBoo is your man.
BaileyBoo is about a year old and weighs 20lbs and he is an adorable Puggle x.
Bailey Boo has been vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, heartworm tested and neutered. We are asking an adoption donation of $400 to help with the costs associated with caring for our animals.

Linni (NY)

She is housebroken and has all the great qualities you would want in a family dog. She is still underweight and would love a family of her own to fatten her up a bit more!.
Linni gets on with other dogs but she is very interested in cats so may be better in a no cat home unless the cats are dog savvy! She does love to chase anything that moves, squirrels, birds, even leaves and we think we see some greyhound as well as lab in her makeup. For this reason we would like Linni to go to a home with a secure, fenced in yard. She obviously strayed from her first home, (probably off chasing something and got lost) and we do not want that to happen to her again.
Linni is about 18m old, weighs 38lbs, has been vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, heartworm tested negative and spayed. We are asking for an adoption donation of $400 to help with the costs associated with caring for our animals.

This super sweet girl is Linni - She is playful and very smart as well as very affectionate and loving. She is on the submissive side and really wants to please you. She already knows several commands, including sit, lie down, stay and come (most of the time!). Linni will stand on her hind feet and put her front paws on you gently and give you kisses, but she is not a jumper or hyper - just a medium energy kind of dog. She would be happy with an active family that likes to run or hike, but also is content with just a walk or play session daily. She came into the shelter as a stray, very skinny and neglected. But she has obviously been a family dog as she has great manners and is very gentle.

Mackaveli (NY)

This handsome boy with beautiful red brown coloring and white socks is Mackaveli! He is a spaniel/setter x and is about a year old. He weighs in at 35lbs though could stand to gain a few pounds. He is more on the shy/reserved side and will need a new owner that will be patient with him and help him build his confidence. He came into the shelter as a stray so we dont know anything about his background but it seems that Mac's short life has not been the best and he gets apprehensive in new situations. He has spent several weeks being spoiled in his GA foster home and now its time for him to move to New York and start his new life. Mac is loving and affectionate and enjoys a cuddle. He is totally house trained and has learned to sit for a treat very quickly. He is highly food motivated and a quick study so he would be easy to train. He sleeps in his crate at night but much prefers not to be in it and sleep on the bed! He walks well on the leash and gets along fine with the small dog in his foster home, but he does like to chase the cat.
Mac is going to do better in a quieter home environment as he learns that life is going to be good from now on. An owner that will commit to helping him come out of his shell, to expose him to new things like riding in the car and trips to the petstore! Mac is such a sweetheart and really deserves to be spoiled forever. How rewarding its going to be to watch him blossom into the confident and happy dog that we know he soon will be!

Zane (NY)- ADOPTED!

We absolutely *heart* Zane. This little guy is only 14 weeks old, but already knows how it is to be hungry and lonely. Poor little bugger was picked up running the streets of rural GA with no place to go. His chances of getting out of Animal Control were next to zero. PPR saw Zane and had to scoop him up since he was very convincing climbing on our laps and giving kisses. Zane is a real charmer and the sweetest and most mild tempered pup you have ever met. Zane also has the most beautiful eyes that are a an amazing lime color. He is just a gorgeous dog with lots of potential. He is still a puppy and will need training and socialization to become a great K9 citizen. We will require his new owners to commit to puppy training class. Zane has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, HW tested and microchipped. We are asking for an adoption donation of $400 to help with the cost of care of our animals.

Deuce (NY)- ADOPTED!

Deuce - What a lovely and well behaved boy he is. What a sad story he has. His first visit to Animal Control was when he was a puppy. We are sure he was adorable! He was lucky enough to be adopted and enjoyed having his own family for almost a year. Unfortunately his mom and dad are divorcing and neither are able to keep him and so he was dropped off at the shelter again! He is sweet and loving, seems to have had some training as he knows several commands and walks nicely on the leash. He is quite well mannered, friendly, affectionate and its obvious he has been well cared for. His foster mom has nothing but good things to say about him - he's a very good and polite houseguest, potty trained though hes not too happy when crated. We are so glad we were able to give Deuce another chance - he is going to make his new family very happy indeed! Deuce is just a youngster, about a year old and weighs in at 45lbs. Another GA mystery mix so not sure what breed to identify him with, but possibly shepherd/lab could be involved.

Dugan (NY) - ADOPTED!

Dugan - What a smart and friendly little guy! Dugan is playful and loves to run around in the yard enjoying a game of chase. He.walks nicely on the leash and enjoyed meeting all the dogs he was introduced too. Dugan has a beautiful brindle coat with a splash of white on his chest and some white toes. He knows he's a handsome boy and he certainly turns heads as people stop to admire him! He is used to getting lots of attention! He has the typical Cairn Terrier personality and will need an owner that appreciates that. Cairns love their humans and are smart and loyal little dogs. They learn quickly but need an owner who will be consistent with the discipline and not let them be 'the leader of the pack'! His foster mom says he is very sweet and loving and is housetrained. He loves playing with dogs and would make a great doggie playmate. Dugan was surrendered to the shelter by his owner as he couldn't afford to keep him, another victim of the economy. He is only about a year old and weighs in at 22lbs so just a nice size for just about any situation.

Cupid (NY) - ADOPTED!

This cute little poodle guy is CUPID. A scary shelter is no place for a little man like him so we invited him to be part of our Valentine's Day Rescue - he is so sweet, friendly and with his dark grey, almost black, soft coat, he's just perfect for snuggling.
Cupid is about 3 years old and weighs in at a hefty 7lbs - and is a true lap dog. Because of his small size, we would like him to go to a home without small children. Poodles are extremely people-oriented dogs, smart and eager to please.
Cupid is no exception and is looking for a new owner that will love and spoil him for the rest of his life. He will return the love you show him by being your true and faithful companion. He has experienced being homeless and he didn't like it!

Amaya (NY) - ADOPTED!

This is Amaya!! Isn't she beautiful?
She is waiting for her forever family to come and bring her home. She gets along very well with cats, dogs and kids, is housebroken and is always eager to please! Her foster mom tells us she is just a wonderful girl and a well mannered houseguest, so happy and loving. She enjoys being a pampered pooch at her foster home! We believe everyone should have small Hound girl in their life, so please apply for this sweet girl today! She is a Rat Terrier/Beagle Mix girl, weighs about 15 lbs and is 18 months old.

Wheatabix (NY)- ADOPTED!

WHEATABIX -This little girl is about a year or so old. 12 pounds of cute wiry terrier perfection! We got her out of the Animal Control just in time as she became very ill while at the vet hospital. She was very lucky she was there and received the care she needed to get better. Wheatabix recovered beautifully and is ready to head to her new forever family! She is a cutie and loads of fun. She does well with other dogs and loves to play and snuggle. Wheatabix has been dewormed, spayed, vaccinated, HW tested and microchipped. We are asking for an adoption donation of $400 to help with the cost of care of our animals.

Naja - (NY) - ADOPTED!

NAJA: Another gorgeous little black fluffy puppy who found herself homeless and turned into the shelter by an owner who said they didn't have time for her. Super sweet and friendly, just wants to be with you. She loves to run and play and is just a happy girl who loves everyone and everything! She is about 12 weeks old and weighs 10lbs. Puppies are a serious commitment as they do take a lot of your time but who can resist puppy kisses? And Naja is an expert! She will need an owner who will take her to puppy kindergarten and provide her with lots of exercise and play sessions. We think she has retriever and maybe collie in her background so she probably will grow to be a medium size dog but of course that is just a guess.

Lumina (NY) - ADOPTED!

This little sweetie is our Lumina. She was surrendered to Animal Control by owners that were not able to take care of her anymore. Luckily, PPR was there and whisked her away to our vet where she was vaccinated and taken care of properly. Lumina is a typical puppy and will need a family that is committed to train and socialize her properly so she grows up to be a good K9 citizen. Puppy classes are a must! Lumina is a Lab/Retriever Mix, but as always we don't know for sure what she is made of . All we know is that she is adorable. Right now Lumina is about 12 weeks old and weighs 10 lbs. We expect her to grow to be a nice medium size dog. Lumina has been spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. We are asking for an adoption donation of $400 to help with the cost of care of our animals.

Cakes - (NY) - ADOPTED!

Cakes - Oh what a LOVE! This beautiful puggle girl is not only gorgeous on the outside, she is just as gorgeous on the inside! Cakes is very loving, sweet, laid back, willing to please, well-mannered and quiet. She gets on with other dogs (she was sharing a kennel with two other dogs at animal control) and would make a great companion dog. She is a true treasure! She seems to have had some training and has been well cared for. She has nice manners and we think she would make a good apartment dog too. She was surrendered by her owner who said their child was allergic. She is about 2 years old and weighs in at a chunky 22lbs. She loves her treats but she really needs to lose a pound or two!

Rumba (NY) -ADOPTED!

Rumba loves to dance as his name suggests. This little guy just adores to be the center of attention - such a happy, friendly, young man. His foster mom says he just loves everyone, is great with other dogs, loves kids,and is just a fun dog to have around. He is affectionate and just loves to snuggle - he jumps right into your lap and will stay there as long as you do! He's housetrained, rarely barks, walks great on the leash and he sleeps in his crate at night. He loves to play and go for walks too! His foster family just love him and we know his new family will be in love within minutes of meeting him! How can you not!
Rumba certainly has some Japenese Chin in his background and we think there could be some Pomeranion mixed in too. He has a lovely soft coat! He has the cutest little underbite which certainly adds to his character and makes him so unique! He is about 2 years old and weighs in at 12lbs. Rumba has been microchipped, dewormed, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative and neutered. We are asking for an adoption donation of $400 to help with the costs associated with caring for our animals!

T-Rex (NY) - ADOPTED!

T-Rex is a very special, little guy and very dear to us. T-Rex was brought into Animal Control by a lady saying he had been tied to a sign in front of a gas station for a few days. Given the freezing temperatures we doubt that a 7lbs dog would have survived that, but who knows... We took T-Rex with us that very same day and promised to find him a great forever home. T-Rex is only 1 year old and we think a Yorkie/Chihuahua Mix (aka Chorkie). He loves to hang out with other dogs, enjoys toys very very much, is crate trained and almost housebroken. He is the happiest little guy, who is nothing but excited to see you and be with you. He will never fail to make you smile and we can guarantee that!!! Now on to the more serious stuff: T-Rex is a "special needs" dog. He has a congenital (or maybe acquired by too much time in a crate as a young puppy) condition called fused elbows which affects his front legs. That means he cannot fully extend his front legs and walks in a hunched position. He has mastered his handicap beautifully and gets around just fine and he also can stand and walk on his two hindlegs. T-Rex is very well adjusted and not bothered by this at all. He will definitely be a conversation starter. Please consider this loving and sweet/happy little guy as your new companion. He is so worth it :)

CHALUPA (NY)- ADOPTED!

CHALUPA - He immediately caught our attention on a recent trip to a Georgia Animal Control. Happy, smiling, friendly guy who wagged his tail and literally begged for attention as we approached his kennel. Of course we were ready to oblige and he was so excited to get out into the play yard and have some fun! He absolutely loves to play with toys and to watch him is pure delight - especially when he finds the squeaker! He gets so excited! Chalupa is about 8 months old and spent way too long locked up in a cell. He wants a family to spoil him and take him on walks and give him lots of toys! He needs good nutrition too as he came into the shelter very skinny and obviously has not had the best start in life. He has all the puppy characteristics and will need a family that can give him the guidance he needs to learn his manners as like all untrained puppies, he does like to jump on you. He is very sweet and affectionate and certainly is adorable - he has a very soft cream colored coat and check out those cute freckles! We know Chalupa will be a great addition to any family, he gets on great with other dogs and would make a good doggie companion. We certainly think Chalupa has some bulldog and boxer somewhere in his background and will grow to be a medium size dog - he weighs 28lbs.

Roslyn (NY) - ADOPTED!

Cute little Roslyn is truly a lucky girl. This Pug/Chihuahua Mix found herself homeless in a big, crowded shelter. Naturally, she was very scared and didn't show her sunniest side, but who could blame her for that... luckily a good Samaritan went to the shelter in the nick of time and saved little Roslyn from a grim fate. Roslyn can be a tad on the shy side when meeting strangers, but warms up very quickly and will love her people a lot. She is a laid back snuggler and enjoys couch and lap time. She gets on great with other dogs in her foster home and enjoys playtime as well. She is housetrained too.
Roslyn is about 3 years old and weighs about 15 lbs.
All in all Roslyn is a great, little dog and hopes that her special person will scoop her up quickly. Maybe it is you?

Skara - NY - ADOPTED!

SKARA- This is a truly wonderful dog! She may be a cross between an Aussie Shepherd and a German Shepherd dog, as she has the coloring of the GSD and the rumpiness of the Aussie. Skara gets along well with cats and dogs of all sizes, the kitten in her foster home is teasing her mercilessly and she is ignoring the bait! Skara's photos capture her kindness and love, but they can't show you the joy and faithfulness that make her stand apart from all other dogs. She has a soft, sweet nature and her intelligence makes her an observer and thinker rather than a bounder and wild girl. This girl could go far in obedience or any other training you would like to have her do. Skara is very clean in her crate and learns so quickly -housetraining should be a snap for her! WINNIE - To say she is sweet and friendly is an understatement! This girl is all about love and just wants to be with you. She will snuggle into you and demand attention - there is no ignoring Winnie when she wants to be pet! She is a fun and happy girl whose tail is in constant wag motion. She has a beautiful honey colored coat (with white accents) and is such a loving girl that she reminded us of that lovable bear - Winnie the Pooh, so we named her Winnie!
Winnie is about 6 months old, just a pup - playful and very smart as well as very sweet and loving. She is just the right age to benefit from a puppy training class so she can grow up to be a good doggie citizen. Kendra - NY

KENDRA is such a little doll! She has a few white hairs on her muzzle but don't let that fool you - Our vet estimates her to only be about 2-3 years old and she certainly acts like a youngster. She has a very long body so we think there could be some dachshund in her and she has the cutest little Chi face!

Kendra is very sweet and loves to be held and snuggle up to you. So if you are looking for a lap warmer, then Kendra is your girl. She also is playful and so she will need daily walks and a play session to make her happy. Kendra got on fine with the other dogs she was kenneled with at the shelter too. She was picked up by the dog catcher as a stray and spent several weeks waiting for her owners to come and bail her out of jail, but alas they didn't and so we promised to find her a wonderful new family.

DREIDEL (NY) - ADOPTED!

DREIDEL is our 'special needs' pup. We saw him in his stainless steel cage at Animal Control spinning in circles, very disorientated. He was available for rescue only as the staff thought maybe he had hearing problems that was causing his behavior. Such a cute little guy we took him out to the yard to evaluate him and the first thing we learned that he wasn't deaf at all. He trotted off to explore the yard - we called him and he ran right back to us!
Well after a stay at our vets and lots of tests, it seems Dreidel does has vision problems. He spent a few weeks in a Georgia foster home so we could get to know him further and we think he could have been born with limited vision as it certainly doesn't affect him at all. He gets around just fine, is friendly, happy, confident, playful and loves to snuggle! In fact he is a total love bug and just wants to be with his person! He likes to explore outside and loves to play with other dogs, both big and small. He still does 'spin' when something startles him but according to his foster mom, as long as you touch him to let him know that all is ok, he stops immediately. He certainly doesn't see himself as handicapped and neither do we. Marnie - NY - ADOPTED!

MARNIE. On a recent visit to animal control we encountered a couple turning in this beautiful labby girl. She was just sitting there looking so bewildered as they filled out the paperwork and we soon learned that they had adopted her from the shelter just the previous day! They told the staff that their older, little dog did not like her, so Marnie had to be returned. Now Marnie was considered an owner surrender which meant her time was very limited. Well we were just so upset to think that Marnie wasn't even given a chance to settle into a new home and just hated the thought of her going back into the scary kennels. She had no idea what she had done wrong and it just wasn't fair. Marnie is only about 9m old, so barely out of her puppyhood. We know she gets on great with other dogs as she had previously been sharing a kennel at animal control with several other young dogs. She is playful, friendly, loving, sweet and so very pretty with her honey colored coat highlighted with a few white spots and a couple of white toes! She has the prettiest gold colored eyes too! Marnie weighs in at 34lbs right now and probably will grow a little more.

PEPSI - NY - ADOPTED

PEPSI - Like her name, she is very bubbly and has lots of energy! She loves running around in the back yard and will fetch balls and sticks and bring them back to you. She gets along great with other dogs. She enjoys walks, but needs some training to walk nicely on a leash. Pepsi acts like a young pup but she is probably nearer to 3 years old. She is potty trained but nobody has spent any time teaching her any commands. With the guidance of her foster mom, she has learnt to sit and come when called (most of the time!). She is a very quick learner and enjoys her training sessions. Though she likes to play, she also loves to be a lap dog and is very content to just chill and enjoy some quiet time. Her foster mom says she is a very sweet and affectionate and she also loves to be brushed. We are listing Pepsi as a lab x, but she is a very petite girl for a lab so she may have a little something else in her. Pepsi weighs around 20lbs.

BENETTON - NY - ADOPTED

Benetton is a real southern gentleman, oozing charm and good manners - he really is a gem and would make a great addition to just about any family situation. He can be playful and active but also is calm and enjoys just chilling so he will fit right in with whatever you want to do! He has the saddest eyes we have ever seen though and we cant wait until he finds his forever family who will put the sparkle back in them! He just wants to be with his person and will lean into your side to let you know he's there and would like some petting!
Benetton gets on great with other dogs and during his stay at our vets, became great friends with the clinic cat and would kiss him all over!
Benetton is about 2 years old, finished with the annoying puppy behaviors, and is fully grown at 28lbs - a nice medium size. He is a just a great dog, and we cant say enough good things about him!

CELIA - NY - ADOPTED

CELIA - What a sweet and gentle, tail wagging girl! She can present a shy demeanor when you first meet her but this lasts just a few minutes and then her true personality comes shining through. Celia is a very affectionate, loving, happy girl who just loves to snuggle and kiss her humans. She loves to eat, enjoys her treats, and knows how to sit and shake. She is so smart and a quick learner! She so wants to please that we know she would be a delight to take to an obedience class. She does jump up but is very gentle, as she tries to be closer to you. She gets on great with other dogs so would be a good fit for someone that is looking for a doggie companion but equally she would be happy as an only dog with her person to play with! She absolutely loves snuggling on her bed and you can often find her enjoying a nap in her crate too. Her foster mom says "She is positively one of the sweetest fosters we have had".
Celia is going to make a great addition to just about any family situation - she will be ready to go for walks or hikes with you, or just settle and chill for those lazy days. Celia is just one of those wonderful dogs that you know will make a faithful and loyal doggie companion. Celia is also such a pretty dog and has a beautiful coat. KOLA - Fluffy pup alert, and when we say 'fluffy' we mean FLUFFY! This baby has a very thick coat and when we saw him, we immediately thought he needs to move to a colder climate! One look at Kola's paws and you can tell he is going to be a big boy. At just 12 weeks old, he already weighed in at 22lbs. We certainly think he has some Newfie in his makeup.
Kola needs to join a family that will commit to taking him to a basic obedience class. He is a typical puppy, chewing, jumping, and 'mouthing' and he can play quite rough, but with his size it is important for him to learn that this behavior is not going to be acceptable. His new owner must take on the responsibility of training a large breed dog so he can grow up to be a well mannered doggie citizen. Kola is a very smart and intelligent pup and is doing great with his potty training. He has learned to sit for a treat and we know that he is going to be the star pupil at puppy kindergarten! Sooka - she will melt your heart! Just a beautiful, bouncy, happy puppy with the requisite puppy breath mixed in with lots of wet kisses! She is a little darling who loves everyone and everyone loves her! She is spunky and energetic and will need lots of guidance as she learns her manners. Because she is so adorable it would be easy to spoil this little princess and let her get away with jumping and barking, but what is cute as a puppy, is not so cute as they get older. Nevin (NY)- ADOPTED!

Nevin - What a handsome young man is our Nevin! He is only about 18m old but has certainly had his fair share of bad luck already in his short life. Nevin has a microchip and so it should have been easy to reunite him with his owner. Unfortunately it was not happy news - his owner reported that he had given Nevin away to "some kids" a while ago when he was moving - he did not want him back. Poor Nevin to be discarded like that and he is as sweet and friendly as they come. We decided that Nevin should join PPR and find a new family that will show him the good life and where he can be loved and spoiled for the rest of his life. He is a loving boy, and his tail just never stopped wagging when we took him out of his kennel. He has a beautiful 'smile' too! He was sharing a pen with several other dogs so we know he gets on fine with other dogs and he is just a great medium size weighing in at 23lbs and fully grown. We know Nevin's luck has now changed and that his new family will be very lucky to have such a loyal and loving companion.

Chamois (NY)- ADOPTED!

Chamois - What a pretty girl! How she ended up in the pound, we just do not know. Luckily the shelter staff recognized what a super sweet lady she is and week after week, they gave her another chance to find her forever home. PPR just couldn't believe that no one noticed this girl but in a very crowded shelter with hundreds of other dogs, it was not looking very promising for Chamois to get her second chance so we invited her to join our rescue. 'Chammy', as her foster mom calls her, is a very good and easy going dog. She gets on fine with other dogs but is not too interested in playing with them, would prefer to snuggle with her human. Doesn't seem interested in cats either. She is very affectionate and loves attention and really would like to be your lapdog! Her foster mom tells us that she walks nicely on the leash though she does like to bark when she meets other dogs so she will need to learn not to do that. At around 2-3 years, she is done with the puppy behaviors; she is housetrained and likes to sleep in her crate at night. She weighs just 33lbs and although we are listing her as a lab, she is a very petite and small girl for a lab so she obviously has something else mixed in too! Wizzmo (NY)- ADOPTED!

Meet Wizzmo, a 4-year old Pug Mix that was surrendered to a very crowded shelter by his previous owners when they could not care for him anymore. Wizzmo is super well behaved, housebroken and leash trained. He loves other dogs and kids and has never met a stranger. Wizzmo is a small guy who weighs 17 lbs, but he could loose two pounds for sure! :) Wizzmo would love a home to call his own that cherishes him for the rest of his life. Latke (NY) - ADOPTED.

We love our sweet girl Latke, a 18-month old Beagle/Doxi Mix girl weighing about 18 lbs right now (she could gain a little more weight). Like most of our dogs, Latke wandered the streets of Atlanta with no place to go and ended up in doggie jail. Our scouts did not miss her pleading eyes and took her with us and promised to find her a wonderful forever home. Latke gets along with other dogs, loves to be petted and is on the "low-key" end. She enjoys a good nap, too! Latke is just a wonderful girl and we think she really deserves a wonderful home to call her own.

Rory is a really cool looking Terrier Mix weighing in at about 30 lbs. He is roughly 2 years old. Rory was unlucky enough to find himself lost in metropolitan Atlanta and brought to the local Animal Control facility. Luckily, his stunning looks drew attention to this guy and he became a member of the PPR troupe. Rory is very sweet and a great companion. He walks nicely on the leash and does well with other dogs. IONA is a beautiful young lady, that's for sure! She came into the shelter with her sister Anya, who has since been adopted. They had been turned into a crowded shelter by their owner. We took these girls out of their cages and they just melted into our arms and covered us in sweet puppy kisses! Yes we are suckers for puppy kisses (and freckles!) and we invited them to join our rescue. Iona is just the cutest pup, very social and playful and is getting along great with her puppy training. At around 5 months old, Iona is at a perfect age to attend puppy kindergarten which is a fun experience for both pup and owner! Iona weighs around 20lbs and we can certainly see that either mom or dad had a beagle/hound background!

BEANS! Just saying her name makes us smile. Beans is a hoot and will bring so much fun into your life! Her enthusiasm is just contagious and this little girl reminds us of the Energizer Bunny - no couch potatoes need apply for our Beans! This fun girl just loves to play and chase after a ball or toy! We took her out to the play yard at the shelter, she ran and played, rolled in the grass and was just so happy to be out in the sunshine! We certainly enjoyed watching her antics. We just love our Beans, she's so happy and friendly, very affectionate, and enjoyed meeting the other dogs we introduced her to. She's going to make a great dog for a family that is looking for a more active dog or a companion for their playful dog. Beans is about 18m old and weighs 16lbs. LEGACY will make you smile! Such a happy girl, her whole body is in constant wiggle motion. Legacy has the most adorable 'heart shaped nose' and always has a smile on her face. She was surrendered to animal control as her owner said she could no longer afford to take care of her. Legacy came into our rescue and was adopted. Unfortunately circumstances changed and her new owner didnt have time for her and she was returned to PPR. Poor Legacy is really hoping that third time will be lucky for her!

We first saw Adele locked up in a kennel with several other little dogs. Animal Control is such a scary place for the little ones - they should be tucked up on someone's lap, not lying on a cold, wet, metal grate. We took her outside to the yard and she just stayed close by our side and wanted to be picked up. On first meeting her, she appears to be on the shy side, but after a minute or two, she is happy and friendly and gives the most sweetest of kisses! She gets on fine with other dogs, is calm and well mannered, and walks nicely on a leash. Her foster mommy says she is a very good houseguest, polite and well mannered and potty trained too.
Adele weighs in at 9lbs, is about 4 years old and we are listing her as a long haired Chi x.

He gets on with other dogs but to be honest he would rather play with you - he is all about his human! He just loves to snuggle and will try and climb up into your lap if you ignore him. Oh did we mention he's a great kisser!Dickens is about 5 months old, and a happy, friendly, tail wagging boy that will fit in with any family situation. Sylvester is a wonderful young boy. He is one of those all-around fun, happy go lucky kind of pups, and is just sweet and friendly. He gets on great with other dogs and loves to play! He has lots of energy and would be a great boy for an active family. He is very eager to please and is so smart, he learnt to sit in no time. We know he would be the star pupil at puppy obedience classes! He is a non-stop tail wagging boy that always has a smile on his face and is going to make a great family dog. We think he has some Brittany Spaniel in his mix; he has a lovely soft coat, weighs in at 35lbs and is probably about a year old.
